22-year-old solo artist Sophia Scott has swiftly become a force to be reckoned with in the indie-pop-rock scene. The Brisbane-born songstress emerges with a distinctly personal sound that overflows in playful introspective youth set ablaze.

Scott’s folk-pop-rock fused music hails from the sounds of artists who filled the halls of her childhood home. From storytelling savants like Angie McMahon to the prowess of legends like Queen, Scott’s sound is an ode to the artists who raised her – coloured with the rarity that is her own vision.

Her intimate storytelling spans the complexity of coming-of-age but defies convention by always gravitating back to her personal world. In the diaristic artist’s own words, “I could write about anything from seven women to Berlin’s wall crumbling but it’s just you.”

At the tender age of eight, Scott started writing songs from her bedroom, launching her first single at 19, which rocketed to Number 3 on the Triple J Unearthed Charts in its first week. In the span of three years, she has played several sold-out support slots supporting the likes of Royel Otis, Boo Seeka, DICE, Teen Jesus & the Jean Teasers, Harrison Storm and more. By Spring 2023, Scott sold out her debut headline show in fewer than 24 hours and has since gone on to sell out every since. Kicking off 2024 by playing at Spaced Out Festival, aglow with her red guitar and accompanied by her three- piece band, Scott continues to prove herself as born for the stage.

Since her debut, Scott has amassed over 17 million views on TikTok, connecting with audiences through hypnotic lyricism, robust production and a relatable melancholy. With all songs self-written and produced with vibrant instrumentation, her music is a kaleidoscope of vivid memories and honest reflection – scored to addictive melodies that rival her predecessors. Most recently, Scott’s rock-centric pop soundscape ‘Fled The Altar’ was crowned Best Original Song at Qube Effect Awards 2023, whilst her newer tracks have received support from Spotify by earning spots in the coveted editorial playlists Lazy Sunday (330,000+ likes), New Music Friday AU & NZ (370,000+ likes), Low-Key Weekend (91,000+ likes), Local Noise (58,000+ likes). As decided by ABC Radio’s Steve Auston: “Keep an ear out for Sophia because if you haven’t picked up already, she’s going places.”

Scott’s eagerly anticipated EP is slated for mid-2024, bringing us more fingerpicked strings and rock-charged anthems. The release of her first 2024 single, ‘Tug of War’ heroes her gift to bridge sounds of the past and the present with poetic grace. As her journey unfolds, Scott looks forward to seizing more stages across state borders, continuing to carve her unique niche in the vast landscape of Aussie indie music.
